Renata Krasowska, maiden name Haratyk, born on 27.10.1966 lives in Koniaków is a daughter of Maria Haratyk, one of the authors of the giant lace. She started crocheting at the age of 7 taught by her mother. She has enjoyed it a lot since the very beginning and an extra incentive came at her young age when she could buy her clothes and school accessories with the money earned through crocheting.
Already in her fourth grade at school was Renata crocheting lace accessories for local priests. She used to take her lace works to Maria Gwarek, receiving money right away which was very motivating for a young girl. In the 80s she took part in a competition held by the Folk and Artist Handicraft Centre in Katowice and took second position for her lace dress and blouse. Nowadays she prefers crocheting blouses, dresses and skirts.
Renata Krasowska’s greatest artistic achievement is creating the biggest Koniaków Lace Tablecloth , a doily with a diameter of 5 metres, listed in the Guinness Book of Records on 18 August 2013. She was in the team of 5 lace makers who were crocheting the lace for 5 months (from April to August 2013) creating the biggest lace doily in the world. Together with her mother Marta Haratyk, two sisters Mariola Legierska and Danuta Krasowska and a friend Urszula Rybka, they have crocheted the biggest masterpiece in the history of Koniaków lacemaking as part of a project carried out by the Culture Centre in Istebna and financed by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage.
